INFLUENCE - Shifting Behaviours for Results - 24th Feburary 2010

Part three of MINDWORKS series on Improving Workplace Behaviours and Results

This session is the third of our four part series that identifies the leverage points for behavioural change. Knowing these, you have the tools to more easily identify your behaviours and that of your teams. What more important to a leader than to influence behaviours for more positive outcomes?

What behaviours do you need for better results?

What changes can you make to get those results?

We know that our behavioural patterns manifest in the form of habits, whether they are positive or negative. These behaviours are learnt from the time we are born.  Just like states, most of us do not realise our behavioural patterns until it is pointed out to us.

Would it not be useful if we could easily see the patterns in our behaviours and the impact that they have on others?  Further to identifying our patterns, wouldn’t it be great if we could change our patterns to create the situations that we want?

Changing the self first; Improve the way you impact others

Sylvia will take you through the 6 step reframe model, an NLP methodology that shows you how to tap into your unconscious mind and help you make that change.  Once this paradigm shift is made, you will realise how easy it is to see changes in those behaviours that were limiting you and your team.

Empower yourself and your team to behave differently at work. Experience better results from these changes!

Peaks and Troughs? MINDING YOUR STATE (Recorded session)

Part two of MINDWORKS series on Improving Workplace Behaviours and Results

Do u realise that we go through many states in a day? Are you aware of what those states are? How do we create states that u need?

The next session is the second of the four part series that walk you through how to recognize, understand and alter the various different states of mind you go through in a day to achieve the behaviours you wish to create.

This will probably be the most important skills you can acquire.

Our state of mind filters and selects perception, activates specific patterns of thought and belief, influences decisions, triggers emotions, affects your way of communication, your health, conscious awareness, health and drives certain behaviours. Hence, your ability to influence and choose your state of mind has an immense effect on your ease and resourcefulness in any situation.  People that can manage their states and are flexible and comfortable moving from one state to another are able to create the results that they need in the various different context it is required.

However, for most people, states come and go like weather patterns and moving through the different states is a reflex – beyond our control.   A lot of the time we may feel more a victim of the unpleasant state rather then the master.  When we encounter pleasant ones, we do not know how to sustain it.  But this can be learned and we all can master the tools to more effectively manage your states, how to recognize state shifts in yourself and others so that you can communicate better and be effective in challenging situations. You'll think about how to respond to unresourceful states, how to understand their meaning, derive their benefits, and move on with those benefits to better states.

It's more than emotional intelligence. It's full brain & heart & mind & body intelligence.

Looking at cause, not effect.  With models and real life examples, learn how to identify and take steps to shape the scenarios you want. Know who you are being, what you are doing to get the best out of your teams. Raise your E.Q. and know that high talent teams are designed for people who are able to chart their own career path rather than wait for things to happen for them.  It reveals some negative push factors and how you take positive actions instead of waiting for them to happen.

Charting a Successful Course Through Disruptive Environments By Making Correct People & Innovation Decisions

Solid business models are getting challenged and are disappearing overnight.  As Service, information & communication businesses are being re-defined, it is causing a  massive global geometric  knock-on effect leading to an overload of possible dangers and opportunities: who will eat my lunch? How can we disrupt the market? What societal trends and technological innovations are important to observe and which are not.

Look at Navigating Innovation In 2 Steps

1. Fixing The Sailboat

Leaders think about how to:

  • De-politicize the existing organization, streamline it fast and increase the bottom line
  • Know the sailboat will still produce revenue for the next 4-8 years
  • Generate time to study which members of the sailboat crew are able and fit to join the jetski crew
  • Study the markets, trends and technologies
  • Craft a specific strategy to create his own jetski with which he will disrupt the market

2. Building The Jetski

Having streamlined the existing sailboat and insured it will continue producing revenue in the foreseeable future it is time to think of creating the new jetski of your own. Participants will join in a lively discussion and get answers to:

  • What is innovation really (do I have to invent something brand new?)
  • What trends do I have to observe and incorporate into my innovation process?
  • Who should I invite to become part of this process?
  • What does an innovative company look like? (hierarchy vs. community, employee vs. co-creator)
  • What is the step-by-step process of going from concept to implemented reality?
